Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Special Olympics Iran and the Federation of Veterans and Disabled Persons of the Islamic Republic of Iran
Fortunately, with the approval of the Honorable President of the Federation of Veterans and Disabled Persons, Dr. Jalil Koohpayizadeh, and the President of the Special Olympics of Iran, Dr. Hossein Nahovinejad, and with the follow-up of the members of the Board of Trustees of the Special Olympics of Iran, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the two organizations in the field of developing physical activity and public sports and championing people with intellectual disabilities, Down syndrome, and autism spectrum disorders in the country through sports, educational, research, cultural, and social programs.
In that memorandum, the two parties committed to take joint action in the following areas:
- Implementing educational and cultural programs in the areas of games and sports for children of the target community
- Holding conferences, festivals, coaching courses and workshops
- Cooperating in sending athletes of the target community to overseas competitions
- Producing and publishing scientific content to raise awareness of the target community, their families and the general public
- Training efficient forces in the joint field of work and preparing a suitable platform for the development of entrepreneurship in providing services to the target community
- Cooperating in implementing training programs
- Introducing athletes who meet the federation's requirements for filing national and international competency files
In a joint meeting held for this purpose with the presence of the heads of the two organizations, Dr. Vaez Mousavi (Head of the Sports Association for People with Intellectual Disabilities), Dr. Seyed Bagheri (Senior Advisor of the Federation) and members of the Board of Trustees of the Special Olympics of Iran, it was decided that in addition to developing national programs by both organizations, the provincial boards of the Federation and the representatives of the Special Olympics Iran will cooperate in various provinces of the country in holding joint programs.
We hope that through interaction, empathy, and the use of joint capacities, both organizations will be able to provide better services at the national level.
